Iran Finalizes Bartering Deal of Oil with China to Develop IKIA

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran finalized a bartering deal of oil, valued at €2.5 billion, with China for the development of the Imam Khomeini International Airport (IKIA), the CEO of the Imam Khomeini Airport City said.

Speaking to reporters on the occasion of “Government Week” on Sunday, Saeed Chalandari said that conducting feasibility studies for the construction of Phase II of the Imam Khomeini International Airport has started.

He put the cost needed for the completion of the construction operation of Phase 2 of the airport at about €2.5 billion, the amount of which will be provided via the oil bartering deal with China.

Chalandari further said that four foreign airlines have been added to those operating at the airport since 2022.

The Salam Terminal of the Imam Khomeini Airport City was constructed as a logistics terminal for international flights, he noted.

Pilgrimage flights to other countries are different from international flights, he noted, adding that a part of pilgrimage flights to Syria has been transferred to the Salam Terminal.
