Islam Attaches Great Importance to Order

According to Rahyafte(the missionaries and converts website):It was stressed previously that in order to act upon Islam’s rulings, one needs to recognize the importance of order in all aspects of life. But the religion also directly lays emphasis on the significance of order and discipline. One example of this emphasis is seen in the words of Imam Ali (AS) who said, “I recommend the following to you and all of my children and members of my household and whoever this letter reaches him/her: Have Taqwa (God-fearing) and order in life…”

The importance of order in life is such that Imam Ali (AS) recommends it in the last moments of his life even before recommending Salah, fasting and the like. He puts order after God-fearing and advises it to all people, saying “whoever this letter reaches him/her”.

Now one should wonder why such a vital and significant issue is not emphasized and taken seriously by us? The reason why Imam Ali (AS) attaches so much importance to order is that the Islamic society has a general goal whose realization requires observing order at all levels. Basically, one of the main prerequisites for reaching success and achieving any goal is having order and planning.

At the macro level, having order requires components like organizational agility, observing turns, and avoiding chaos, idleness and procrastination so that all the society can achieve coordination and organization. In order to explain the status and functions of order in religion, one should focus on elements like prioritization, planning, arrangement of affairs and economic order.
