Iranian Company Meets 40% of Country’s Needs for Electrocardiograph (ECG)

TEHRAN (ANA)- Technologists at a knowledge-based company in Iran have produced 6-channel electrocardiograph devices (ECG) for the first time in the country, as well as 3-channel and single-channel ECGs to meet the country's 40% of the total needs.

"The company continues to produce three-channel, single-channel and twelve-channel ECGs in order to complete its product portfolio in the field of electrocardiograph (ECGs). All the devices have gone through clinical trial phases and have obtained necessary certificates from the National Medical Devices Directorate and have been offered to the market," Jalal Radadi, the chairman of the board of directors of the knowledge-based company said in an interview with local Iranian media.

"Also, the company has also been able to obtain the CE marking for all products of the electrocardiograph portfolio. Apart from this, the company has managed to secure over 90% customer satisfaction," Radadi also said.

Saying that the device denoises the output signal by making minimal change, the company's director added, "Also, in the 6-channel and 12-channel variants, an advanced algorithm for measuring the diagnostic parameters of the ECG signal and its interpretation is included, which greatly helps the doctor in the diagnosis."

"The company has made it possible to easily use the device by including a color display with capacitive touch screen."

He also pointed out that in the domestically-made ECGs, online processing of cardiogram signals (electrocardiogram) is made possible.

"In the technical field, by exerting signal processing software algorithms, the company has implemented suitable ECG signal filters in the device, which enables the device to process the signal (electrocardiogram) online."

"The ECG device is used to record the electrical activity of the heart and is able to record this activity by connecting 10 electrode strings to specific points on the body (arms, legs and chest) to show 12 different signals (6 bipolar and 6 unipolar) on thermal printing paper or other outputs."

"The output of the electrocardiograph device is used by specialists and emergency services. The first step in referring to the diagnosis of heart diseases is to prepare an electrocardiogram. Generally, all ECGs have a thermal recorder (similar to a fax machine or a store-bought pose). Electrocardiograph devices in the industry are divided based on the number of output channels on thermal printing paper: For example, a 6-channel device is a device that is capable of recording a maximum of 6 channels simultaneously on thermal paper," continued the director of the company.

"More than 10,000 ECGs produced by their knowledge-based firm have been sold and are being used across Iran…. Currently, the company annually meets about 40% of the needs of the total Iranian market. It has also been able to export its products to Iraq and Syria but not in big numbers."

He continued to assert that their company has produced a single-channel ECG for home use by doctors and emergency services who visit the patients at home.

The company's director further highlighted the reasonable prices of their products as one of its superiorities over imported foreign-made ones.
