Iranian Technologists Produce Spectrophotometers for Different Industries

TEHRAN (ANA)- Experts at a technological company in Iran have domestically produced spectrophotometers and have supplied them to domestic factories to help them with measuring the content of silicon dioxide in iron ores.

According to a report by the website of the Iran Nanotechnology Innovation Council (INIC), a technology company that produces spectrophotometers has offered four of its spectrometers to one of the industrial groups operating in the glass industry.

A spectrophotometer is an instrument that measures the amount of photons (the intensity of light) absorbed after it passes through sample solution. With the spectrophotometer, the amount of a known chemical substance (concentrations) can also be determined by measuring the intensity of light detected.

The light used is a spectrum of electromagnetic energy, each light spectrum has a specific wavelength and frequency. The amount of absorption of each chemical substance in different wavelengths of electromagnetic energy is different. Accordingly, each chemical substance will have maximum absorption and minimum transmission in a certain wavelength of electromagnetic energy, and this process is used to determine the properties of that chemical substance.

Mohammad Javad Kargar, the managing director of the technology company, said that a contract for the sale of 20 spectrophotometers produced in their company has been concluded with an industrial group, of which four devices have been delivered to it as part of the contract.

“These Iran-made spectrometers are supposed to be used to equip the laboratories of this industrial group.”

“In general, the spectrophotometer device is used in various industries such as oil, gas and petrochemical, food, pharmaceutical, water and wastewater industries and all research laboratories for quantitative and qualitative analyses of chemical, biochemical, nano, pharmaceutical, petroleum, metal, mineral, petrochemical, polymer, clinical sample solution,” Kargar said.

“In the water and wastewater treatment industry, this device is used to measure the amount of nitrate and nitrite, as well as other important water parameters, before the water enters the system,” the managing director of the technology company also said.

“In fact, this device detects the desnity of elements in the water. In the oil and petrochemical industries, which has a wide range of applications, it analyzes and tests various elements in oil and oil products. In the food industry, the amount of preservatives added to products can be measured with this device,” he concluded.
