Iran's 12th Parliament Inaugurated with Emphasis on National Interests and Responsible Governance

Iran's 12th parliament was officially inaugurated with a message delivered by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

Iran (IMNA) – In his address on Monday, Ayatollah Khamenei highlighted the significance of upholding and enhancing "religious democracy," referring to it as a significant divine blessing bestowed upon the Iranian people. Emphasizing that each parliament member represents the entire nation, the Leader underscored the lawmakers' primary duty of safeguarding the country's national interests.

Ayatollah Khamenei also cautioned against approving development plans in an excessive manner that exceeds the allocated budget. Furthermore, Ayatollah Khamenei urged parliamentarians to enhance collaboration with other branches of the government and adopt a collective approach grounded in patience.

He reminded the lawmakers that their oath signifies genuine responsibility, not merely a symbolic gesture. Expressing gratitude to the outgoing legislature, the Leader commended their service. The inaugural session, attended by prominent Iranian officials and foreign dignitaries, saw 290 lawmakers taking their oath of office. These elected representatives will serve a four-year term in Iran's legislative body, having been elected in two rounds of elections held on March 1 and May 10. The 11th parliament concluded its final session on May 21, marking the transition to the new legislative term.
