Iranian Knowledge-Based Firm Designs Software for Smartization of Power Grid

TEHRAN (ANA)- A knowledge-based company in Iran has succeeded in designing and developing a home-made software to make the power grid smarter.

“We presented the software for smartization of the power grid which is now also used by Tehran Province’s Electricity Distribution Company,” Qassem Derakhshan, a faculty member of the Islamic Azad University’s Damavand branch and the managing director of the company, told ANA on the sidelines of Asr-e Omid event and exhibition in Karaj.

“This product immediately contacts the center of electricity distribution company as soon as a power outage occurs or when the lighting of the street has a problem,” he added.

“Based on the data and artificial intelligence algorithms, the software informs the electricity company what to do to settle the user's problem in the shortest possible time. This home-made system now provides service for 4.5 million customers in the city of Tehran,” Derakhshan said.

The fourth edition of the national Asr-e Omid (age of hope) event in the specialized field of artificial intelligence (AI) and internet of things (IoT) started work at Islamic Azad University’s Karaj branch near Tehran on October 14.

Along with the event, the first national conference on research and innovation in artificial intelligence, an exhibition of new achievements in artificial intelligence and internet of things, and specialized meetings and workshops focusing on scientific challenges in the field of artificial intelligence were held.

The event was held in the form of 15 specialized committees and with participation of 200 knowledge-based companies in the field of artificial intelligence.

A total number of 385 abstracts and 280 original articles had been received of which 91 were accepted and 75 others were finalized.

A large number of Iranian idea makers, young inventors, knowledge-based companies and leading scientific centers participated in the event to display their latest achievements.

The previous three editions of Asr-e Omid event were held in Tehran (2022), Assalouyeh (2022) and Sirjan (2023).

The event ended its work on October 17.
