Iranian Knowledge-Based Firm Manufactures Smart Traffic Lights

TEHRAN (ANA)- An Iranian knowledge-based company developed new smart traffic lights which helps the police to control traffic more efficiently.

“In addition to having a unique design in terms of appearance, the smart traffic light is also completely new in terms of information and data display on the device itself,” Mohammad Ramezani, the manager of the knowledge-based company stationed at Kerman Science and Technology Park, told ANA.

Noting that the traffic light has a large board or monitor installed above the lamp handle, he said, “All information, including traffic messages, date, time, and warning, stop and go messages can be displayed on this monitor.”

Ramezani said that the message of stop, movement or warning is displayed on the monitor of the traffic light in Persian language, adding, “One of the technological advantages of this product is the simplification of the wiring and cable networks in the traffic lights, and the number of wire cables in the new traffic lights is much less than the old ones.”

A report said in the Mid-Novermber that a knowledge-based company in Iran succeeded in designing and making a smart car traffic control system that works 24 hours a day, obviating the need for security guards.

“One of the products of our company is the smart car traffic system,” Keyvan Doustkam, a faculty member of Islamic Azad University’s Arak branch and the managing director of the knowledge-based company, told ANA on the sidelines of Asr-e Omid event in Karaj.

"‘Dezhpol’ car license plate reader system or car traffic control system is installed in front of the parking lot doors and records the passage of cars. During the traffic of cars, the door is opened and closed intelligently for vehicles that have a license, and there is no need for security guards,” he added.

Noting that the system works automatically and 24 hours a day, Doustkam said that it can also be applied in municipalities, intersections, etc.

“The system can also be used to register and record statistics, and if a car passes a red light, this system will take an image and a fine will be recorded,” he stated.
