Official: Production of Mining, Road Construction Machinery in Iran Grows by 30%

TEHRAN (ANA)- Iran’s deputy industry minister said that in the first 10 months of the year 1402 (Between March 21, 2023 and January 22, 2024) compared to last year’s same period, the country witnessed a 30% growth in the production of mining and road construction machinery.

Speaking to reporters in Tehran on the sidelines of Iran Media Expo 2024, Deputy Iranian Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Mousavi said production statistics in 1400 (between March 21, 2021 and January 22, 2022) had reached 1700 items. Estimates reveal that there are 15,000 damaged and broken road construction and mining machines in the country. A leap was planned for the year 1401 (Between March 21, 2022 and January 22, 2023) and we saw a 100% increase in production in this area. In 1401, in addition to Heavy Equipment Production Company (HEPCO), 10 active private sector companies operated in this field, and their achievement was the production of 3,500 mining and road construction machines in 1401.

“We designed the same growth plan for 1402. According to the 10-month statistics, we saw a 30% growth in the production of mining and road construction machinery in 1402 compared to 1401,” the deputy industry minister continued.

“We plan to overhaul 15,000 damaged road construction and mining machines and then move towards exporting such products. Given the fact that we currently need the machines inside the country, they are not exported yet. In this area, wherever we do not have domestic production, we allow imports. We announce that while supporting the production of machinery inside the country, where we do not have production, we will allow imports and hand them over to the miners,” Mousavi added.

“In the field of tractors, in 1401, not only the production fully met the demand in the country, but also, we became an exporter in 1402, and today we export tractors and their parts. So far, we have exported tractors worth $22 million,” he added.

“Wherever we need inside, we increase production and supply, and then we go to exports.”

According to him, when it comes to production of medical equipment, in addition to meeting domestic needs, exports are done. “In the field of vital signs monitoring equipment, we have exports to 70 countries. We export operating room equipment to more than 10 countries,” he added.

“Central Bank statistics in August showed that we grew by 18% in the field of machinery and equipment production. The report released by the Parliament’s Research Center for the first 9 months of this year showed 11% growth in the production of companies operating in the field of machinery that are listed on the exchange market. …and an exports jump scheme for the year 1403 is being considered to be carried out,” the official concluded.
